ABOUT US |
Prairie Crossing Vineyard and Winery is a family owned and operated vineyard perched atop the rolling hills of Western Iowa. Within our three acre vineyard we are growing six varietals including: Catawba, Cayuga White, Concord, DeChaunac, Frontenac and LaCrosse. Each of our 1,300 grapevines are meticulously nurtured by hand to assure optimal grape quality resulting in quality wines.
Prairie Crossing is located on the trace route for the Mormon Trail and surrounded by the beauty of the Iowa countryside; the same vast prairie once crossed by the pioneers. Both the vineyard and winery offer spectacular views accompanied by the song of the meadowlark, bobwhite or country breeze.
In April 2004, under a steady rain and covered in mud, Prairie Crossing Vineyard and Winery officially started. As each grapevine was planted this family venture took root and began blossoming. Since the initial groundbreaking the vineyard has grown to include the six varieties mentioned above. With construction of the winery complete fermenting wines on a commercial level began with the 2006 harvest. We offer several grape wines from a light fruity white to a robust peppery red. Our tasting room offers complementary samples as well as wine for sale by the glass or bottle. Indoor and outdoor seating offers the opportunity to sip a glass of wine while visiting with friends, family or the winemakers themselves. We encourage you to join us for a wine experience at Prairie Crossing. We hope to see you at the winery soon!
